Photos from Drawing I...and oh yeah, a gingerbread house.

Hi again :]

I finally got around to photographing some of my work from Drawing I. I made so much in that class that I picked only the ones that I thought were most successful. But first things first. Most of this afternoon was spent making a gingerbread house with my sister. We had absolutely NO idea what we were doing, so . . . ha ha ha. It was TOTALLY ridiculous. We started out with a plan, honest. It just . . . didn't exactly happen that way. Heh heh. :D Plus, the "smokestack" didn't work out too well (<3 you G) and now the roof is beginning to cave in. My dad says that next year he's going to get in on the architectural aspects. My sister got some pictures of this (ehem) lovely . . . structure (cough) and its various stages of progress (if you can call it that.) Oh well, it was fun. On to the pictures of my work from Drawing I. As I said, I did so much work in that class that I only picked out my favorites to photograph. At least, most of them are (my favorites that is.) I also included pictures of my "object drawing series" to demonstrate how much I improved over the course of this semester. I'm so excited; I can't wait to see where I go :D Anyways, we had to pick out an object that we would draw several times throughout the semester, including our first and final assignments. I chose Hank as my subject, who is this weird little two-headed dude that I sewed from scrap fabric a few years ago.

^ Aaaand this was my final ;) sitting on my easel, whose name is Dalas btw (there's a story behind that one.) Quite an improvement, wouldn't ye say? 6 hour drawing in conte on cardboard. And this one is waay bigger; 33in x 33in.

A close up of his wittle faces, just 'cause I think he's so damn cuuute. Not so, according to a guy in my drawing class: "I dunno, Hank looks pretty gross."

The next ones are inspired by Chloe Piene's style; I think her stuff is unlike anything else and totally awesome.

First Post.

Well well.
It's going to take some time getting used to this thing...
I've never used one.
I created a blog so that I could have a spot to post all my various creations. Not necessarily so that other people outside of myself could see them, but more for me. I generate so much stuff, and being my anal self I like to feel organized...which is petty much impossible when you have stacks and stacks of projects in every nook and cranny. Thankfully, now I have this nifty contraption called a digital camera, which allows me to be even more obsessive with documentation and organization. Also, I'm at the point where I'm starting to have people want to buy my work (which is pretty damn exciting :D) and I want to be able to have a record of that. So here I go. Wheeeee!!!

I have images for all of my work from my 2D Design class last semester. One of them was exhibited in the show Envelop(e), put on by The Drawing Room (http://www.drawingroomportlandmaine.com/ - you should check it out!! if you want to, that is...) which is kind of a neat operation. It's a really nice way for artists to get out there and show their stuff.

The first project was dot compositions, but I'm not sure what happened to those pictures. They disappeared *sniff*. Haha, what's realy funny though is that while I was doing them, I was so excited about them that I couldn't sleep at night.

^ So these right heerrre are my some of my line compositions... some are done manually (with ink), and some on the compoota.

^ Here's my color project, including my "junk" collages. I say "junk" because I don't particularly believe in stuff being worthless. You can always do something with it. Usually.
The one on the bottom is a close up of my one inches. Ain't they cute?? Believe me, that took a very small brush and A LOT of patience.


^ These ones were a logo project. We had a set of words that we had to represent in one design...

^ Here's a poster. I wish the picture was better...Yup. We had to incorporate text (which was a poem that I wrote.) I used a picture of myself which was taken in the woods behind my house by a very good friend of mine. ^ Thus is the one that sold!!! YAY! It's mixed media, and I used the definition of the word "envelope" as a starting point for inspiration (as was the point of the show :D)



^ These last three are pictures of my last project, which was supposed to use cut paper. I really like the concept- it feels like a little suspended world in there. Like all time has stopped...I think that I could go a lot of other places with it. I would like to have light incorporated into the piece somehow.

One of my other projects was flipbooks, which I did take videos of, but I don't have them at the moment. Hopefully I can get a hold of them to post them.
